Follow the future.
Become a leader.
That's human intelligence.

addition
At a time when Artificial Intelligence is taking over more and more, one thing is becoming more urgent than ever: what it means to be human, and how to apply that in an intelligent way. Human Intelligence is not a counterbalance to AI. It's added. It is the layer that feels, adapts, and creates movement where technology gets stuck.

efficient
A heartbeat lasts about 0.8 seconds. Only 0.3 seconds of that involves action; the rest is a pause. For more than half your life, your heart beats in silence. If this were a business process, we would try to minimize that pause—to make it more efficient so we could move faster. That is precisely what we have done: rhythms and cycles have been cut away in the name of efficiency.
A home care worker is allotted time for the medical procedure, but not for a cup of coffee with the person undergoing it. In a spreadsheet, that cup of coffee is a cost item; to AI, it is a waste of time. In reality, it is where the actual work takes place.

success?
We measure success in terms of growth—in terms of the possibilities available to us and how effectively we utilize them. We adopted this mindset during the post-war reconstruction era; it was appropriate at the time. Yet, as systems tend to do, these patterns of thought persist even when they no longer serve us.
As a result we have become accustomed to accepting technology without question. Technology is now everywhere, for everything; even your toothbrush tells you whether you have brushed well enough. Our technology dictates how we should behave with increasing insistence. Unnoticed, we have begun to outsource our judgment, autonomy, and freedom of action. Although we deem much of our political leaders' behavior unacceptable, we have no answer to it and we hardly even question it anymore.

essay
In the essay 'Human Intelligence', Siets Bakker explores three foundations of Human Intelligence: movement as a natural state, connection as the fabric of resilience, and bandwidth as the gateway to one's full potential. For senior leaders who want to redefine what it means to be effective.
